The paintings contained in this book are widely distributed in KwaZulu-Natal and even further afield. There is a detailed text, resulting from the extensive research that she has done on the herbs, trees, insectivorous and parasitic plants. Information is given on plant names, growing habits and location, as well as medicinal, gardening and other uses.

The book includes indexes to scientific, Zulu and common names, together with a comprehensive glossary, Zulu terms and bibliography. This book will be of interest to amateur botanists, gardeners and Africana collectors.
